This is a 'link' page to all of the topics dealing with tools, bought and home made, and as such, will eventually be a very
large chapter.

Once you have read the chapter of your choice, I will provide a link to return you to this ‘link page’, when you can select
another topic.
a list of 'how to do' in the woodwork field
Chisel sharpening
removal of the excess metal on the edges of a chisel
Sharpening a Japanese marking knife
the front edge of my Japanese marking knife
In this chapter I introduce you
to my Japanese marking knife
and how I have reground the
profile to form a 'front edge'.

If you check out the
Techniques chapter I have
explained the benefits of using
this profile.

I have recently purchased
some
Ron Hock marking
knives.  They are excellent
blades, but do not have the
hollowed out back design of
the Japanese knife.

They are made from beautiful
steel and work just as well as
the Japanese knife, but
without having to dedicate a
considerable amount of time to
remove the hollowed back.

It is the tool I would certainly
recommend to my students.

converting a steel and wooden rule into a dovetail template suitable for making dovetails using a marking knife
